Welcome to the 2022 issue of research @Texas A&M...the magazine!

This year we are proud to present a new slate of stories about Texas A&M’s outstanding researchers and their amazing projects.

These stories offer a small sample of Texas A&M’s $1.148 billion research enterprise. According to the National Science Foundation’s most recent Higher Education and Research Development Survey, our research enterprise ranks first place among all Texas universities and in the top 10 of all public universities in the United States, based on expenditures of more than $1.131 billion in fiscal year 2020.

Our stories include faculty and researchers from 10 of the university’s 16 colleges or schools, our Galveston campus and two of The Texas A&M University System’s state agencies: Texas A&M AgriLife and the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station. Many of the projects we cover involve interdisciplinary research that ignores the artificial boundaries between disciplines and often leads to groundbreaking results.

Please enjoy this year’s issue.

Best,

Jack G. Baldauf Vice President for Research Texas A&M University
